Recently, settings to perform unicode normalization for speech and Braille were added to NVDA. However, when I turn this setting on, certain characters remain unreadable on the Braille display however get spoken correctly when the corresponding setting is enabled. This however changes, as soon as you disable BrailleExtender and restart NVDA. Therefore, the add-on is somehow in the way of this unicode normalization process and thereby blocking it. Please fix that, as this setting is very helpful. As a reference, here an example equation. Equation in unicode: 𝐵=(𝑉,𝐸,𝑟)
And as normal characters, it would look like B=(V,E,r)
