We have proposed that the Elan start time be brought forward to 3am (from 6am) to allot extra processing time to the increasing number of sequences, and to allow Asklepian to finish earlier, giving more time for downstream PHA activities.
6am was initially selected (#31) to ensure engineers were on hand to fix issues during work hours. As Elan is sufficiently robust we suggest that for the majority of cases where nothing goes wrong, starting several hours earlier is a benefit that outweighs the problem of a critically failed pipeline sitting idle from 3am+ to work hours.
This will be actioned once we have secured approval from the PHAs and notified WSI.
