502 Bad Gateway after editing file on website due to nginx caching?

When I edit a file on the server, and save it, wait some seconds and then refresh the browser viewing the site I more often than not get 502 Bad Gateway error.

I have to wait some time for the error to go away and the page to display normally.

Is this a side-effect of the caching? Is there a workaround?
