Add new unit tests for ant_metrics

The overhaul of ant_metrics in #402 made some unit tests obsolete and so I think we should probably add some more for the sub-algorithms of the code, not just the overall run functions. Also, running ant_metrics on multiple files simultaneously (sequential in time) is not currently covered and should be.
