Welcome to OL6, Cohort C! This issue will be used to track your project and progress during the program. Please use this checklist over the next few weeks as you start Open Leadership Training 🎉.

Before Week 1 (Sept 12): Your first mentorship call

• Complete the OLF self-assessment (online, printable). If you're a group, each teammate should complete this assessment individually. This is here to help you set your own personal goals during the program. No need to share your results, but be ready to share your thoughts with your mentor.
• Make sure you know when and how you'll be meeting with your mentor.

Before Week 2 (Sept 19): First Cohort Call (Open by Design)

• Complete Assignment 'Write Your Vision or Mission Statement'. Leave a comment on this issue with your draft vision statement & be ready to share this on the call.
• Watch 'Mozilla & Working Open'.
• Check the Syllabus for notes and connection info for all the cohort calls.

Before Week 3 (Sept 26): Mentorship call

• Look up two other projects and comment on their issues with feedback on their vision statement.
• Complete your Open Canvas (instructions, canvas). Comment on this issue with a link to your canvas.
• Start your Roadmap. Comment on this issue with your draft Roadmap.

Before Week 4 (Oct 3): Cohort Call (Build for Understanding)

• Look up two other projects and comment on their issues with feedback on their open canvas.
• Pick an open license for the work you're doing during the program.
• Use your canvas to start writing a README, or landing page, for your project. Link to your README in a comment on this issue.

This issue is here to help you keep track of work during the first month of the program. Please refer to the OL6 Syllabus for more detailed weekly notes and assignments past week 4.

Vision / mission statement.

I’m working with communities of code curious and code enthusiasts, of sex educators and period trackers to make fertility and period tracking more transparent but also more secure, so that people who menstruate can use technology that serves as a tool to help getting to know their own bodies and health better.

I love your project and would use it myself once it is ready!

Here are my suggestions regarding your vision (actually just the clarity of it):

• I wondered if period trackers stands for people who track their own periods or developers of other period trackers (like Clue for example?), would be great to clarify! I suppose the first.
• When you say "to make fertility and period tracking more transparent " do you mean make the code & data tracking and storage behind it more transparent? I am not sure if making the period tracking itself more transparent is sth people would want? So adding the word "technology" might solve the problem
  -"so that people who menstruate can use technology that serves as a tool to help getting to know their own bodies and health better." I would stress that the value coming from your app is that people can use a tool that is not only helping them monitor their health but also makes their data secure Eg "(...) their own bodies and health better without worrying about their data being used in ways they are not aware of" or sth similar.

I Love that you used the term 'People who menstruate' rather than 'Women' It's very inclusive of non-binary and trans people who menstruate.

You may also want to consider the way that you focus and use 'fertility' though as this can be a tough topic for trans/non-binary folks and a source of dysphoria and discomfort.

You also may want to have a think about what kind of features could be done for those on hormone blockers/testosterone when they transition FTM can do to the body and the menstruation cycles. Perhaps users could add in when they take their hormone pills/injections and monitor that. Trans folks may also want to track things like body changes and hair growth etc. (but this may be a bit further out there product wise)

As a trans/non-binary person who menstruates I would happily help out with anything on this topic.

• Documenting additional use cases / personas for future development:
  • for ppl who start menstruating (menarche)
  • for ppl who stop menstruating (hormone therapy or menopause)
  • for pregnancy
  • for post-partum
  • tracking menstrual cycles and chronic disease that might affect each other
