off note @NewmanNJN - documentation of how this data is accessed raw is included as a memo here that can be downloaded from here https://github.com/NewGraphEnvironment/restoration_wedzin_kwa_2024/blob/main/memos/dfo_stock_assess.html as per the screenshot (on non-restricted computers anyway)

Once it is downloaded - just clicking on it should open it in a browser like chrome. it should look like the interactive documnet in the lower screenshot. We will likely host memos like this somewhere like the blog on our website at some point.

Adding this data for the upper bulk to the report in table and/or graph form should be quite quick and straight-forward (and useful!). We will get to that soon.

can explore options like:

  • adding some information regarding the data collection inconsistencies, QA etc.
  • putting tables and graphs in an appendix somewhere referencable within the main body but less likely to be considered accurate
  • pulling the data out of the report and expanding on the memo here https://github.com/NewGraphEnvironment/restoration_wedzin_kwa_2024/tree/main/memos to discuss data limitations, which is useable and which is not and potential actions going forward to increase the usefulness/reliability

until above is complete we can pull plots as per recommendation from @kristenpeck - fair point that presenting the plots raw is perhaps not that helpful.

Short term options can also include:

  • DFO can point to in house visualizations of escapement data that accurately communicates state of knowledge for the dataset, limitations, caveats and future directions. We can link to that information for now.
  • Addition of columns to summary tables of columns such as accuracy precision index_yn reliability estimate_stage estimate_classification no_inspections_used estimate_method within report summary tables
  • updating of table to something sortable within web reporting to aid in drilling through data for specific info
