The italic command doesn't work, it keep its original function : print a i without accent to compose exotic character like \^\i (î).

Hi, in lix.sty, try at line 1008 \providecommand{\i}{}, changing \i for \it, and same at next line (\renewcommand{\i}), with this maybe works.
