Summary

we currently ask startup program applicants some preliminary questions via this form, and then follow up manually by email requesting additional info. It makes sense to revise the existing form to include the right questions to streamline this process.

What kind of request is this?

  • New docs page / feature
  • [x ] Update to existing page
  • Not sure

Which product is this for?

  • Product OS (e.g. platform features)
  • Product analytics
  • Session replay
  • Feature flags
  • Experiments
  • Surveys
  • CDP
  • Data warehouse
  • Other (e.g. open source specific) - startup program landing page

Is there a deadline for this change?

  • Yes (please specify)
  • No

I'm looking to update the form questions to capture:

  • Full Name [new]
  • Billing Email [new]
  • Company Name [existing]
  • Company Domain [existing]
  • How much funding have you raised [existing]
  • The date that your company was incorporated [existing] - maybe when date is set earlier than 'Jan 1st 2023', an error pops up saying something like "Your company needs to be less than 2 years old"
  • Last 4 digits of the card you signed up with

@minekansu is there anything else we actually need? I haven't been looking at Project IDs, company referrals or answers to the question 'Are you building LLM-powered features?' when approving so think we could skip those. People might be reluctant to share their card details through a form but they'd be doing it by email eventually? All this would have an impact on our current zaps but happy to tweak accordingly.

I imagine this form was originally very brief to remove any obstacles for sign up. I don't think that's an issue anymore, and making the flow more efficient would be mutually beneficial.

Once we've hit the sweet spot on this, we could also improve the YC flow so founders could upload the bookface screenshot instead of email it? Can do that in a separate issue if these changes to the normal startup form proves to be successful.

Are you building LLM-powered features?

I think @Lior539 was using this field to send some additional ai themed stickers

I haven't been looking at Project IDs

i found this occasionally helpful to add credits to the right account (some users are on multiple accounts, some create US/EU account by accident etc) but you can retroactively fix this when they complain if you prefer!

this is the zap we need to update to make sure new form fields go to salesforce and other zaps connected to the startup tables, happy to help here! https://zapier.com/editor/248748195/published/249305260/filter
