Ethernet Disconnecting During Logging (RevD)

Hello all,

I am having issues with buffered logging on an AMDC revD using ethernet. The ethernet connection seems to be resetting during the data dumping process.

Please see the attached screenshot for details. I am also including the relevant python notebook for reference.

Any help would be appreciated.

Interesting. So it looks like the second half of the if statement is true, i.e., Python hasn't received any data in the past 1 second. Meaning, the AMDC thinks it sent everything but Python simply missed the footer of the data stream...

The footer is pretty simple to spot in the raw data: 0x11223344 repeating 4 times in a row (see the spec). So, I think next step to debug is to print the contents of the received data and see if that bit pattern appears in it. As python receives data, it gets appended to dump_data variable. So, can you now print out the contents of dump_data in hex format when the exception occurs? Note that this will probably be a very large output, so try only logging such that you only collect a few samples.

I was able to solve this issue.

It seems like the problem was caused by the ethernet cable. I changed the cable to a CAT.6 to support gigabit ethernet and the connection errors no longer occurred.
