Question

I wish this repository has translation files of L4D2 so people can update translation.

Well, you could upload the unchanged localization files as a first commit in a PR, but I wonder if this type of update/fix is possible/allowed... Do you know if there are mods that already do something similiar, giving us a head start?

Moreover, checking these files would be useful to ensure that issue #289 is safely addressed.

I noticed that localization files got updated after TLS update, so i don't know if Valve still maintains it. Here's some mod that improves russian version of l4d2 https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2735436707 this author has other mods with fixes and improvements too.

Hey @Blueberryy just wanted to thank you for the interest, we love your other translating work and we'll definitely keep in touch.

Since you mentioned Infernal's project, MANACAT's Korean Localization Project is another good one that completely overhauls the game -- imagine if we could someday do something like that, for every language!!

I don't think we're quick to throw localization files onto this repo, as right now that's more of a Valve thing, like https://valve.crowdin.com/ crowd-sources that for CS:GO / DOTA2 / TF2, and there currently isn't such a project for L4D2. With regard to The Last Stand update, we provided Valve a lot of home-brewed translations, but their in-house translation team had to completely review/tweak all of that work and added a lot on their own. So, there's currently no expectation for translations on this repo to make any 1:1 jump into the live game, thus they currently fall out of scope.

However, it's still something we constantly think about! Though we haven't heard anything, it is possible Valve may eventually use https://valve.crowdin.com/ for L4D2. It's also possible that we'd need to provide our own in-house sample translations again someday, or if future pursuits come to light that could allow us to act on translations with full autonomy.

Overall, thanks so much for the interest, there's just not yet a clear answer on how this will be handled!
