Too many tournaments

I think we have too many tournaments and most of them end up empty. Maybe if we made them rarer, they might fill up a tiny bit more. Maybe getting rid of daily tourns completely? Just an idea...

somewhat unrelated but I have an idea to make people play more in tournaments. it's common for players to join a tournament and pause without playing games. Then, when new players join, they see that everyone in the tournament is paused and they don't bother waiting for a game, continuing the cycle. My idea is to make it so if a player pauses with no games played, they are instead simply removed from the tournament as if they never joined. That way, people don't see all the paused players and aren't discouraged from waiting for an opponent

Do you happen to have any statistics on which days (or even times) get the most players for these tournaments? If you can find that sweet spot, maybe you can make it a weekly tourney.

And if it's weekly, maybe we could have better long-lasting (or rather week-lasting) rewards. For example:
-A banner somewhere on the main page announcing the current reigning tournament champion
-A special icon, color, or glow to that player's name

Empty tournaments get deleted. Might also be skewed with yearly, or unique tourneys or smth.
Best time appears to be friday 17 utc.

And if it's weekly, maybe we could have better long-lasting (or rather week-lasting) rewards. For example:

Shield tourneys are a similar concept, there is also the tourney leaderboard on the homepage as a reward. But having one single tournament each week with a special reward sounds like a good idea. Still we would need decide what to do with the other tourneys.

Sounds like Friday at 1600 (Did you mean 1600 when you said 1700? Because 1700 has a low count) may be the most lucrative? And maybe throw in a Sunday one too for people who can't do weekdays? Perhaps at a time that would complement Friday 1600... Maybe 1200 since that was the other big peak, and it's also more appropriate for a Sunday?

As for type, I'm actually not sure since they seem to be relatively even... Classical and rapid should probably get priority though?

True 1700 has low total count, I was looking at the average. Sunday 1200 also sounds good. Still not sure if I should just concentrate most current tourneys into these times, or make some new unique weekly tourney.
