It would be nice to offer a user the choice to end to end encrypt data so that there is no possibility of it being read by any other entity including freeagora software / future AI. This would be the ultimate protection layer ensuring protection beyond even what the Agora foundation can provide.
This would likely mean that there is no collaboration on any works protected this way and that works saved in this manor would not be able to be used for suggestions / recommendations.
I believe on my first pass of thinking this through that this should be an extra layer of protection offered on private documents and not be the default for private documents as it would take away some of the advantages of cloud and collaboration which are some of the main differentiating factors of Agora. It is my opinion that for private / developing research / works many users would want / benefit from the suggestions / recommendations / collaborations that can be suggested because the system can read the content of the document and the first layer of trust in the Agora foundation is appropriate for this trade off. There are some things that you might want to store however that are completely private and would have no value to the recommendation engine, these are perfect candidates for end to end encryption.
This is an evolving idea for future development.
