What?

Users need access to the components and patterns they need to build the (internal) services they are working on. The Design System does not build patterns and components for internal services. Users are increasingly finding what they need in other design systems.

So what?

The Design System is still considered the gold standard but remaining relevant in the minds of service teams is important for it’s continued success.

What now?

The Design System considers how to respond strategically to the needs of users who are now focussing more on building internal services.
Collaborate with other departments to find ways which enable users to benefit from the innovation of other design systems whilst also enhancing the capacity of the Design System.

Sometimes I cannot find the functionality I need, so the team looks elsewhere, like the MoJ design system but there are sometimes concerns about accessibility and usability of those patterns.
