so this is the big one!
the one i am ambitious about!
u may heard, there are some plugins and softwares that do it.
FL beepmap (instrument) - FL Harmor (instrument) - Adobe Audition 3 (Effect and simple Instrument) - izotope iris (effect) - photosounder.com - ...
they import a picture or u can draw some thing with a brush and white pixel are loud frequencies and blacks are mute sounds. or maybe invert. or whites get louder and blacks sound the same.
as a realtime effect it should loop what it does. it should link to daw BPM
dubstep producers will love it. and this may change music standards
parameteres:
blacks volume slider (-120dB, 0, 30dB)
whites volume slider (-120dB, 0, 30dB)
gamma (0, 1, 10)
fft
loop: 4beat, 2beat, 1beat, 1/2beat, 1/3beat, 1/4beat, 1/6beat, 1/8beat,
logarithmic/linear
extra: bottom frequency and top frequency

I've used Adobe Audition's version of this. As a realtime effect I guess
this could loop the image along the width. It could effect an input signal
by convolving the input signal with the image signal I found it worked best
when importing corrupted files that had lots of repeating structures.
It might be best, to begin with, to just load an image and allow the user
to use an external image editor to edit it.
