Is there a easier way to perform status checks?

We recently moved to Argo Rollouts to use blue/green strategy instead of using home brewed solution. The migration itself was smooth and but the status check made some of our scripts really complicated.

• We use Jenkins Pipeline to perform blue green strategy. We have 3 stages - dry run/plan, apply/preview phase, approval phase and then switch/green phase
• We deploy group of applications together
• In order for the pipeline to move from apply phase to approval phase all the pods need to in either COMPLETED or PAUSED status based on whether it is initial or subsequent deployment.
• We perform PVT on the preview applications and then approve the pipeline to perform the switch / promote the applications
• In order to determine which state we wait on (COMPLETED or PAUSED), I query the active selector.
• If the active selector exists and the rollout also exists then check for PAUSED state
• if the active selector does not exist and rollout does not exist then check for COMPLETED state
• if rollout exists and active selector does not exist, then check for COMPLETED state
