Prompt formatting changes outside git repository?

I have installed everything including the font, it works perfectly fine and looks really nice. Except for when I go to a non git directory. What could be causing my prompt to switch to a percentage sign and not use the dot that I see when in a git repo?

Sorry, I created a custom prompt myself because there were too many issues. Good luck though.
