Recommended way to move new clients to end of stack

Hello. I'd prefer that new clients spawn at the end/bottom of the stack. Reddit seems to suggest using the function awful.client.setslave(c) inside a callback as follows:

client.connect_signal("request::manage", function(c)
     awful.client.setslave(c)
end)

. The above works, but according to the docs, awful.client.setslave(c) is deprecated. I tried c:lower(), but that did not work for some reason. I also tried using a global rule as follows (taken from the default config), but that also did not work:

Nice. Until the docs are fixed, which function should I use? Also, can this be done using a global rule instead of the callback?
