For some mailscanner settings, it would be very nice to be able to configure them for one direction of e-mail only. For example, I'd like to enable the Stricter phishing filter for inbound mail (mail delivered by a host not in the allowed relayers list), but not for outbound mail. (Outbound being mail sent by trusted relays).
