Native discovery strategy is brittle with regard to native library filenames with version

Due to regex matching when searching for native library shared object files, e.g. libvlc.so.5 will work because it's a single digit, so libvlc.so.10 would not work.

For the foreseeable future this is not a problem, but it is something that should be tidied up.
