Is there any chance of either adding this to the official fdroid repo or of hostng your own? I don't have access to Google Play Services, so adding it to fdroid would be really helpful for me.

There is quite a bit of work to getting an app into fdroid, as it has to be built on their infrastructure and using only certain maven repositories. It seems that Fenix recently managed this, so we could likely reuse their setup: mozilla-mobile/fenix#162

What's current plans on this?

Or...

Do you officially want to recommend Mull browser instead?

https://gitlab.com/divested-mobile/mull-fenix

Mull is already available at official f-droid repo and if user wants to get faster updates, then DivestOS has their own f-droid repo too.

Mull is bit similar to Librewolf browser, but Mull is for Android.

I assume that if devs won't answer on this one, this quiet behavior can be taken as "yes, we recommend you to use Mull instead" which can be referred in the future.

Let's please keep the issue on topic (Ghostery Android Browser on F-Droid).

But note that even though F-Droid support is nice to have, installing Ghostery on Google-free Android is already possible. I'm using VollaOS, for instance, which is also free of Google Services and doesn't have Google Play; I can still install the Ghostery Browser. If you don't want to use Google Play, you can always use alternative stores such as Aurora (https://f-droid.org/de/packages/com.aurora.store/).

If someone from the community has experience with F-Droid packaging and wants to help, we do welcome contributions. But unfortunately we don't have the capacity at the moment to work on it ourselves.
