In order to not collide with the discussions specific to tuxguitar, I start this one.
To install tuxguitar on gentoo, the easy way is to install the proaudio-gentoo overlay: eselect repository add proaudio-gentoo,
and to run emerge -av tuxguitar.
It is a gentoo bug that ask to add tuxguitar into the main tree: https://bugs.gentoo.org/914890
In order to keep the traffic on this forum as low as possible, for any question, suggestion or fix regarding the tuxguitar ebuild, please use that gentoo bug.
I will try my best to keep that ebuild up-to-date, that both into the bug and into the proaudio-gentoo overlay.

If You need help with general overlay management, take a look here: ebuild repository - Repository management.
For information, support, suggestion or report regarding the proaudio-overlay, it is hosted on github: proaudio-gentoo overlay.
