I was struggling to apply a dark theme to nautilus , the Gnome file manager.
nautilus
nwg-look did work for most things (GTK3 apps), but it did not work with GTK4 applications (like nautilus) which apparently use libadwaita

The only thing that worked was using this tool https://github.com/GradienceTeam/Gradience
It's really important not to set the GTK_THEME environmnet variable in hyprland.conf though, otherwise it will mix themes and not work properly.
