MS Excel or Google Spreadsheets are popular ways for finance & investment enthusiasts to build their trackers / automation etc. From DIY investors to advanced professionals in financial sectors, it's appreciated as a simple but powerful tool across the spectrum.

We plan on having a beginner-friendly module, that introduces basic concepts of Excel, with hands-on exercises.

  • Intro to bundle (what we would cover, and what we won't, pre-requisites)
  • Reactive UI in Excel: Data Chaining & Updates (would create cross-cell and cross-sheet linking)
  • Pattern Filling (Dragging to fill cells based on pattern)
  • Fetching Data (Google Finance tickers, for example)
  • Formatting
  • Common Popular functions (XIRR, CAGR, FV, PV etc.)
  • Case Study 1: ULIP XIRR
  • Case Study 2: Tax Planning
  • Case Study 3: Portfolio Tracking
  • Case Study 4: Retirement Calculator
  • Case Study 5: Insurance Calculator
  • Case Study 6: Goal Planner Calculator
  • Outro (next steps, further reading & practice)

The goal is to build a module, that after going through this, and practicing; one would have adequate confidence to not look for ready-made trackers out there.
