We’ve noticed an increase in low-quality pull requests recently, so we need to share some important guidelines:

If you’re planning to submit a pull request for GSoC purposes or to enhance your CV, please note the following:

  • GSoC Participation: We currently have no plans to participate in Google Summer of Code (GSoC) for 2025.
  • Commenting on Issues: Please refrain from adding comments just to state that you're working on an issue—this notifies everyone following the project unnecessarily.
  • Issue Assignments: We do not assign issues, so there's no need to request assignment.
  • Requests for Help: Avoid asking for help or clarification in comments.
  • Do not @-mention contributors: We'll see your comment, there's no need to ping us.
  • Pull Requests: Be aware that pull requests made under these circumstances will most likely be closed, and we may not always provide a reason.

Thank you for understanding!

I think this should be put somewhere where everyone can read it. It'd be very helpful for people who are searching repos for GSOC 25

It can't be more visible than pinned permanently at the top of the repository. If someone who wants to contribute doesn't even see that I don't think they'll be a good match for this project anyway
