Upon seting assignee to pull request: error: unknown option `default'

I have set up forge successfully with Github and Gitlab. Everything works perfectly well, however, when I C-c C-e to add an assignee to a PR that I have created with magit forge, I get the following error:

error in process filter: forge-pull: Not a Git boolean: "error: unknown option `default'

Config file location

following by the entire man entry for git config.

Is this a bug or does anyone have an idea on how to debug my config? Any help is greatly appreciated!

To clarify, setting the assignee works, I just get this message everytime.

I tried reproducing it but it doesn't happen for me.

Do M-x toggle-debug-on-error and then repeat the action. That should give you a backtrace that I can use to narrow down the issue.

The value of the Git variable forge.autoPull has to be a boolean but you have set it to something else. It has to be a boolean as understood by Git, not Magit, so true and false work, t and nil don't.
