'go back' from the simulator console view triggers a board restart #4274

To reproduce the issue

Create a small project that writes to the console.
Click to show the console when offered below the simulator view.
Click 'go back' from this console view.

Result

Simulator is reset, i.e. restarts.

Expected

No interruption of simulator running state.
