ggtree/ggimage seem to be struggling to keep up with maintenance in a timely manner, and are causing orthogene to break.

Consider switching all functionality to rphylopic, if possible, as these maintainers have been far more responsive and recently active.

The kind of functionality that rphylopic would need is currently being discussed:
