I'm using CachyOS now, today I upgrade cosmic to alpha 5, some keyboard shortcuts not work anymore, like the volume button (XF86AudioLowerVolume and XF86AudioRaiseVolume ), Super+T (open a terminal), Super+F(open cosmic-files), others like Super+Q (to close a windows) works.

Is this a known bug?

I don't know

I shall take a look-see, if I can re-bind those keys.
I am on cosmic-session-git 1.0.0.alpha.5.r1.g38e3686-1

Steps to reproduce

  1. open SettingsInput DevicesKeyboardsAdd & Edit Shortcuts
  2. edit a shortcut, for example: SystemLauncher
  3. then you get a text input field,
  4. type in the shortcut you want: "Super+Space"
  5. click outside of the input field
  6. the shortcut remains in default state, in this case Super + Slash

Expected behaviour

  • Step 4, not having to type the shortcut as a word "Super+Space", but holding the Superkey and pressing Spacebar.
  • Step 5, it accepting the input and actually changing the shortcut.

step 5, It doesn't accept my input

Variation

  • If you type in lower case: "super + space" it does get recognised
  • however this way of implementation is a-typical when compared to other desktops and,
  • is reliant on the user not typing upper case, which is unhelpful
