I think both are correct; "disk" is preferred in the US and "disc" in the UK.
Anyway "floppy" is spelled the same everywhere so it could be changed to just "Floppy" for the disk, "Floppy drive" for the drive and "Floppy image" for disk images.
I've been looking and in VirtualBox you can add a "Floppy controller" and then connect "Floppy drives" to it and mount a "host drive", "disk files" or "disk images" into the drive(s)
On the other hand in VMware you can add a "Floppy drive" that includes both the controller and the drive and then it is called a "Floppy" under "Removable devices" and you can mount "Floppy image files" into it, maybe it supports physical floppy drives too but my PC doesn't have one, for some reason VirtualBox thinks the card reader is a removable floppy drive.
The VMware approach seems the best since it doesn't need to use the word "disk" at all.
The button for switching diskettes is named disc rather than disk or diskette
