This is a catch-all issue for optimization of sourmash-style searches.

per luiz:

NFS/Lustre is terrible for rocksdb perf, it really wants SSD or at least HDD because of latency.

so, try to avoid running RocksDB on network-mounted disks when doing really large workflows.
