Volume widget doesn't work with PipeWire #370
Comments
PR #386 introduces a new pactl_widget that is solely based on pactl as an interface to PulseAudio or PipeWire. You may give it try and feedback, thanks! |
Just wanted to say thanks for the tip, pactl-widget works great as a drop-in replacement for volume-widget. |
For the idiots like myself looking at this later, import the new widget |
Can this be closed? I haven't tested it myself since I don't use Awesome anymore, but have others had luck? |
As I am the author of the new widget, I shall not comment on whether it worked for others. However, this issue should be closed simply because even if the new widget would not work for some reason, there should be a new issue opened for that new widget. |
Since the widget uses the output of
pactl
it doesn't workThere is this patch, but it seems rather hacky and abandoned
#351
The PipeWire devs seem unwilling to add
pactl
:https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/pipewire/pipewire/-/issues/357
My suggestion is to stop using this tool or make a version for pipewire only
