[Feature]: Enhancing Termux Accessibility for Visually Impaired Users #4304
Comments
Why would they need Termux? If you want, you can just make some changes to the source code and build a version for visually impaired people. However, I don't think you should use Termux if you cannot see. |
@TRA80r Why do you think people who cannot see should not use termux? I think we should do what we can to improve accessibility in the app, bug reports or feature requests that show how/where the app can be improved are very welcome! |
Visually impaired individuals represent a significant and growing community of smartphone and computer users. Many are actively pursuing skills in computer science and technology to innovate and create accessible solutions. Text-based communication plays a crucial role in their interaction with computers, devices, and the world at large. Terminal environments, in particular, offer a powerful and efficient way to interact with machines through commands, making daily tasks more manageable for visually impaired users. Additionally, blind individuals often seek to automate repetitive tasks in their jobs to improve efficiency and independence. By leveraging terminal commands and scripting, they can create custom automation workflows tailored to their specific needs. To support this community, we should develop tools and resources to simplify and enhance their experience with terminal-based interactions. One potential resource that could aid in this effort is the eSpeak command documentation, which provides valuable insights into text-to-speech functionalities: Proposed Action:
By making terminal interactions more accessible and supporting automation, we can empower visually impaired individuals to engage more effectively with technology, streamline their workflows, and contribute to the field of computer science. |
