Every time I run a script (ctrl+F5) or compile (shift+ctrl+F5) it, the debug console automatically opens below and takes of my screen space.
Is there a setting that won't open automatically?
thanks!

Not currently available, running in non-debug mode will not open this. In the Run submenu of the toolbar.

Open vscode settings and look for open debug

That setting controls when the debug window opens automatically.
You can set it to neverOpen

@RaptorX
Unfortunately, it still doesn't help for me. When I press CTRL+F5, it still opens automatically.
