A friend of mine are interested in making a permissively-licensed progs.dat alternative, could we use this as a base and license it as mit, or is it too similar to the original?

If I'm being honest, i don't know, last time when i was working on this was like 5 years ago.
I can license this mess under MIT repository if that's what you want.

Works for me, so long as it's not based on the gpl progs directly, and is implemented from scratch.
