Hi,

I watched Lex Friedman's video with the authors of Cursor - Wow. It appears cloud connected IDE's are going to get more and more complex.

However, there will always be a place for a fast, efficient, moddable, local code editor. I have greatly enjoyed using and extending micro, with much help from many contributors.

I am not a developer, but some further discussion of priorities and boundaries for Micro may be useful.

There is a lot of hard work going in to make this project mature and improve quality. However, we still have ten major issues outstanding, some could be called critical:

• Garbled contents when reloading file with DOS line endings #3303
• Micro saves files non-atomically #3148
• command bar doesn't scroll horizontally #2527
• Readonly mode doesn't disallow undo, replace, retab... #1805

There are many features which are routinely requested during the evolution of a code editor, most of which are already in the core of Micro. Would you consider adding any of the following to the core project:

• SingleInstance. Some external way to tell micro to open more files.
• FileManager. Built in as an alternative to SingleInstance. See textredux as an example
• SpellCheck. This could be a linter - as we can't do squiggly underlining, but I would also value a dialogue based correction process. See Hunspell.exe for an example.
• LSP. Micro is not going to compete as an IDE, but users really like LSP functionality. Can we support locally installed LSP servers?
• GUI. Not in the spirit of Micro. But moving away from the terminal would remove the whole class of hot key won't work issues.
• Play MP3: Only joking, I can't remember who said "all code editors evolve until they can play audio".

Just some food for thought, very grateful for all the work to get Micro this far - please keep going!
