Organizing Teams

For efficiency, having different roles to cover different tasks is advised. We used the following:

Strategy

  • help with overall strategy
  • act as the point of contact on the core team
  • initiate/coordinate collaboration with outside organizations.

Coordination

For this role, having a few people cover different areas or regions of your town/city is helpful.

  • vet PPE requests
  • build relationships with recipients (since it’s likely that you will see the same individuals or organizations reach out for help over time)
  • assign couriers to deliveries.

Distribution

  • physically pick-up and deliver the PPE to the recipients, based on instructions from the Coordination team.
  • For our group, we mostly partnered with individual courier volunteers and Masks For Docs couriers to deliver.
  • Your group may find individual volunteers for this, or partner with another organization.
