DPWH National Bridges Dataset

Detailed mapping of DPWH bridges on national highways, and conflating attributes and other inferred data from the DPWH Road & Bridges Inventory (RBI).

Effect on local bridge-mapping convention

• Current bridge tagging convention: add the bridge:name to the highway object, exceptions for “historical landmarks”, where the highway name takes the bridge name.

• Bridge-tagging amendment proposal : Whenever possible, draw an area to represent the bridge outline and tag it as man_made=bridge, then add all bridge-related properties to that object. The highway on the bridge will use the name of the connected highways, except when the connected highways have different names, then the highway name may use the bridge name. For simple bridge mapping, or very small bridges, add bridge:name to the highway.

Do not combine both methods. Otherwise OSM will report duplicate results for the same bridge.
