so, @rafmudaf, NLopt installation through wisdem requires the opt extra for wisdem. this also installs/requires pyoptsparse. but pyoptsparse is not on pypi, just conda-forge. thus install fails using pip alone. i've tried in 5721c43 to avoid this by loading vanilla wisdem with pip and also nlopt with pip (thus without installing/attempting to install pyoptsparse). hopefully this should work.
