PKM Workshop

Welcome to the Personal Knowledge Management (PKM) Workshop repository!
This repository was created for the workshop "Personal Knowledge Management and Note-Taking Apps", Presented on December 2nd 2024 for the IMPRS QBEE Doctoral students.
The workshop focuses on Logseq and Obsidian, and general note-taking strategies. You can see the published slides at: https://cecibaldoni.quarto.pub/pkm-workshop/


Contents

  • Slides:

    • PKMslides.qmd - The source file for the workshop slides, created with Quarto and Reveal.js
    • PKMslides.pdf - A downloadable PDF version of the slides for quick reference
    • custom.scss - A custom stylesheet defining the layout of the presentation
  • Example Notes:

    • Logseq.zip/ - A pre-configured Logseq graph to demonstrate PKM techniques
    • Obsidian.zip/ - A pre-configured Obsidian vault with ready-to-use notes

How to Use

1. View the Slides

  • Option 1: Download the PKMslides.pdf file for a quick overview of the slides
  • Option 2: Go to https://cecibaldoni.quarto.pub/pkm-workshop to see the interactive presentation in yourr browser
  • Option 3: Clone the repository and open the PKMslides.qmd file using Quarto
    • Run quarto render in the repository directory to generate the presentation

2. Practice with Notes

  • Logseq:
    • Download and install Logseq
    • Open the Logseq/ folder as a graph in Logseq by selecting Open Graph from the Logseq app
    • Explore the pre-configured notes to understand how PKM strategies can be applied in Logseq
  • Obsidian:
    • Download and install Obsidian
    • Open the Obsidian/ folder as a vault in Obsidian by selecting Open Folder as Vault from the Obsidian app
    • Use the prepared notes as a starting point for experimenting with PKM techniques
