ARGoal: How-To Guide For "Goal Distance"

Things you can do

  • Goal Distance: First you will need to wait for the experience to initialize. Say you have a grassy field as the ground. You should be able to reliably add a reference marker (AR sphere objects) the ground surface as long as it's well lit (the darker it is, the harder it is to find a surface and thus the harder it is to accurately place an object). You can place markers in the air too but the accuracy with respect to the cross
  1. See the cross hair (+) in the center? Point it at your first reference point (i.e. the goal line on the ground), which will use a sphere to mark the location on the surface. Then press the mark goal button to drop a marker at the crosshair.
  2. Once the first marker is placed, watch the real-time distance panel to track how far you are from goal. The distance is relative to where the cross hair is pointing.
  3. When you are far enough, press the mark me button which will drop a second point and measure the distance between. A line between will be drawn.
  4. Suggestion: use the marker to help you place the ball as a spot. Then take your shot!
  5. Tapping the screen will also drop markers. Nothing is stopping from using this to measure objects on a smaller scales/distances as well.
  • Restart Button: This app is using ARKit, a brand new framework from Apple. There will be times when the surfaces aren't detected properly, times where the camera freezes, and times of other general inconveniences. Use the restart button in the top right corner to restart the experience and reinitialize the AR utilities. If issues persist after restarting, use the (X) close experience button to go out to the landing screen and come back into "Goal Distance".

  • Screenshot your experience: Using the left most button in the bottom row of buttons, you can capture your memories from ARGoal.
