Let us get to know me better. I am an engineer and a dad. My family resides in the Northern Virginia region of the US. Here's a picture of us:
I open-source daily at work and leisure.
The chief source of inspiration for me is in discovering new and better ways of writing code. At the time of writing this profile, I was working on Toucaan, but I intend to work full-time on Bookiza eventually, and immediately after completing Toucaan. Both projects are close to my heart.
In the past, I have spent a lot of time on application design, architecture, performance, and accessibility.
Mission
One of the primary missions of my life is to free long-form works, i.e., books, from the clutches of the closed gardens. You know who I mean, the Amazons and Apples of the world.
And then bring those delightful works straight on the web, treating the web as the lead agency of distribution on behalf of the author. I want to make books a first-class citizen of the web. And turn the web into a distribution and consumption machine that works for writers and readers. Like it was always meant to. Imagine readers buying their books straight from writers they love.
No man-in-the-middle to take away your distribution rights. Ever!
I know this is easier said than done. But it must be tried. Again and again, until the powers-that-be yield to you. Competition is essential for everyone.
