Gasherbrum (K3) - Release 1.2 - Beta 1
Changes from R1.1a - Mechanical:
- added optional metal motor mounts and thermal backers to the dxf folder
- z drives can now be printed on a 120mm bed sized printer
- shallow angle maxwell joints are now a bit easier to print and hold the bed a little better
- added beacon z probe support
- added k3rabiner support for sherpa mini and micro, folded ascender support to return in a future release
- removed support for some unused hotends and extruders (all dragonflys, slice copperhead, lgxlite)
- belt tensioners now hold onto the belt much better and are easier to print on lower grade printers
- xy motors are now easier to remove from the printer thanks to a change to the upper bearing mount
Remaining Open Tasks for R1.2 - Mechanical:
- purge bucket not currently supported with beacon
- k3rabiner changes not merged into main stl folder
- generate CAD
- generate updated eDrawings files
Changes from R1.1a - Software / Electrical:
- None
Remaining Open Tasks for R1.2 - Software / Electrical:
- Update config to support latest version of klipper
- add beacon support to the mainline config
Notes:
- screw tracker is still in progress, this note will be removed and an announcement will be made on discord when it is finished.
Gasherbrum (K3) - Release 1.1a
Changes from R1.1 - Mechanical:
- easier to print electronics box corners (will no longer shear parts off with 15k accels)
- grommets are now a bit easier to print (no sharp overhangs)
- some parts have had their primary and secondary filament colors swapped, in an effort to balance out the filament usage
Changes from R1.1 - Software / Electrical:
- None
Notes:
- screw tracker is still in progress, this note will be removed and an announcement will be made on discord when it is finished.
Gasherbrum (K3) - Release 1.1
Changes from R1.0 - Mechanical:
- Frostbite, K3arabiner, Shallow Maxwells, Smaller Z Motor Mounts and Quick Pull 625 Bearing Mounts added to the experimental folder (Will ship with R1.2)
- Version 2 of the Electronics Box - This brings much more customizability to end users, side mounted fans, a magnetic lid, and more space for wiring
- Removal of the Basecamp height Electronics Box and Back Panel - a bigger ebox is a better ebox
- Quickdraw V2 - no more glue :)
- Mosquito Net for Mosquito heatsink based hotends
- Switch to R4 Ascender: new toolhead body and umbilical mount
Changes from R1.0 - Software / Electrical:

Gasherbrum (K3) - Release 1 - Beta 1
As a team we have finally hit the point where we feel that K3 is good enough for a "Beta" flag.
Release Notes:
Project Gasherbrum (K3 for short) is a Small Format, Direct Drive, Fully Enclosed or Open Air FDM Printer.
This is an entirely scratch design, based on the efforts of the "Hypercube Overkill Project" for the XY Motion System

Project Goals:
- Fully Enclosed Design or Open Air
- 2020 Frame Members
- Build Volume of ~180^3 mm
- Direct Drive Extruder
- Shortest Belt Paths Possible, 4 Motors, 2 Per X, 2 Per Y Axis
- Moving Bed
- MGN9 Rails (XYZ and Cross)
- 9mm Belts on XY, 9mm Belts (recommended) or T12x2 Screws to Lift Z
- Maxwell Coupling on Bed Frame
- NEMA17 Motors XYZ
