Main Menu

Entries in the DataShot desktop application main menu. Entries in bold are those most likely to be used in day to day operations.

  • File

    • View History

    • Database One File
    • Preprocess All (administrators only, primarily for early deployment/development).
    • Preprocess a Directory Create specimen records from image files in one directory.
    • Redo OCR for a Directory
    • Redo OCR for All
    • Reccheck cases of Whole Image Only (for one directory)
    • Recheck all cases of whole image only
    • Scan a file for barcodes (checks a file without creating database records).
    • Cleanup deleted images Remove database records of images that have been deleted from the file system (does not remove any related specimen records). Useful for cleaning up file renaming and when reimaging specimens when the first image was found to be deficient after preprocessing.
    • Load Data
    • List Running Jobs List of three running jobs in the ListRunningJobs dialog.
    • Create Unit Tray labels (You are better off using the Precapture application instead).
  • Data

    • Search The main entry point for data transcription - search for images to work on.
    • VerbatimTranscription());
    • VerbatimClassification());
    • Browse Images (Administrator only) Only intended for use on development setups with small numbers of images.
    • Browse Specimens (Administrator only) Only intended for use on development setups with small numbers of records.
  • Quality Control

    • Check for Barcodes in Image File Useful for testing a template, or checking the quality of a particular file. Checks the file for barcodes and tries to detect which template to use, without creating any records in the database.
    • QC Barcodes Useful if your barcode numbers are expected to be in complete continuous sequences.
    • Reconcile Image Files With Database Check that each image file under the image base has one and only one database record. Produces a report listing files that conform to the expected filenaming pattern which are not present in the database and image records in the database that were not found on the expected location on the (mounted) filesystem.
